The birthplace of plywood |
The Fontenay-le-Comte site is situated near the port of La Pallice, the Atlantic Coast’s no. 1 timber port where most of the exotic logs arrive from Africa, and on the edge of the Marais Poitevin where poplar cultivation is historically very important.
This factory, created in 1965 on a 10-hectare site, focuses its activity on the production of exotic throughout-Okoume plywood panels and mixed multi-ply panels, called "combi plywood", which contain a high percentage of local wood such as maritime pine or poplar (a species very much present in the Poitou-Charentes region’s forests).
This site has been ISO 9001:2000 certified since 3rd January 2001 and is pursuing its development with a fleet of modern and high-performance machines for producing a wide range of products intended for very varied uses.
The most significant uses include: train floors, fixtures and fittings for top-of-the-range nautical pleasure craft, shutters for Venetian homes, and even fireproof or flexible panels exhibited in wood and construction material wholesalers and on DIY store shelves.
