Africa: the Sustainable Development Plan (SDP)

A long-standing development

PLYSOROL is committed in the long term to establishing an ongoing approach to sustainable development. The company embarked on the path of ecocertification and development of an internal label (Eurokoumé) as early as 1991.

PLYSOROL, a pioneer of current issues invested in human, logistic and scientific means in order to develop sustainable management of forest resources for its production in Gabon..

Thanks to its Sustainable Development Plan initiated in 2001, PLYSOROL has been able to not only preserve the environment with preventive actions but has also been able to ensure continuity of forest resources by promoting socio-economic fulfilment on a local scale via training, prevention and development actions. This action has allowed, for example, to inventory 250 tree species in over 1500 kilometres of layons covered with more than 30,000 trees counted, but also an exhaustive inventory of fauna and flora with more than 6000 animal traces recorded and 200,000 trees counted, measured and georeferenced. This plan, which involved more than two million euros of investments and four years of work, research and training, was the start of certification.

By becoming the largest manufacturer of certified Okoume plywood, PLYSOROL now guarantees the conservation of future resources for tomorrow’s generations, via its products and its raw material, Okoume..
