PEFC (Pan-European Forest Certification Program) certification is awarded by approved independent certification bodies, such as the CTBA (Wood and Furniture Technical Centre). The PEFC logo, which certifies that the wood used in marked products was harvested from forests whose owners are committed to respecting the rules governing sustainable forest management, first appeared in France at the beginning of 2003. It also guarantees that the industrialists who transformed the wood have satisfied the PEFC control chain requirements.
PLYSOROL’s Epernay factory has been PEFC-certified since March 2004 (certificate PEFC 10-31-36 and control chain certificate PEFC ref. CTBA/04-00375).
This procedure claims to be resolutely collective and pedagogical. The entire certification process was elaborated in a major concertation effort, associating all interest groups concerned by wood and forestry. It actually meant involving as many landowners as possible concerned about ecology and economics in its dynamism.
